Mackie Jalloh

Mackie Jalloh, a recent UAW/T-TEN graduate exemplifies the qualities and attributes needed to be a successful student. His fantastic work ethic and great attitude separated him from his peers in the shop and the classroom. From day one in Job Corps, Mackie knew what it took to become victorious.

After graduating from High School, Mackie entered Job Corps at the Charleston Job Corps Center. While there, he fully completed the Automotive Program. After graduation, Mackie had a decision to make regarding his future. At the time, Mackie had a standing offer to enroll at the local community college with a sponsorship at a nearby dealership. Along with that chance, Mackie had an opportunity to attend Advanced Training at the UAW/T-TEN Program in Clearfield, Utah. After consulting with his mother and family, Mackie made the decision to attend UAW. Mackie's instructor at Charleston, along with his family, highly supported his choice to attend Advanced Training, so his decision ultimately was an easy one.

Shortly after transferring to UAW, Mackie proved his excellence. His instructors at UAW knew they had a special young man in their midst. Mackie proceeded to spend nearly a year and a half in the program, completing UAW/Toyota T-TEN Partnership Program in Brakes, Engine Performance, Suspension, Steering and Handling, Air Conditioning, Electrical Circuits, and Electrical Diagnostics, as well as passing ASE Certification tests in Automotive Brakes, and Air Conditioning. In addition to his classroom achievements, Mackie completed two Work Based Learning (WBL) Internships at Tony Divino Toyota, and Murdock Chevrolet. Both Service Managers offered Mackie employment in their respective service departments; however, Mackie had other plans.

Today, Mackie is working as a mid-level Line Technician at Lexus of Silver Springs in Hyattsville, Maryland. Of his new employer, Mackie had this to say: "I enjoy working for this company because the people are friendly, they have a safe clean working environment, and of course lots of educational opportunities."

In follow-up, Linda Pizel, Career Transition Specialist for UAW-LETC, received a phone call from Jeff Manchester, Shop Foreman for Lexus of Silver Springs thanking her for sending such a great Technician and loyal employee. To the Staff of UAW, Mackie stated: "I want to say thank you to all of the staff of the UAW Program for helping me make my dream to become an Automotive Technician come true, I would not have made it without all of the devoted, loving and caring people. May God bless and watch over you, peace. Last but not least, I love you Linda and Ms. Potter."

We would like to thank Mackie for selecting the UAW/T-TEN Program over other well deserving programs. Your presence here was truly a special one for everyone involved in your success!
